The Gospel In God's Design

Key Scriptures Genesis 3:1-15; Romans 5:12-19.

About this series.

  • In addition to being a decorated or plastic egg, an "Easter Egg" is an unexpected feature in a piece of computer software or on a DVD, often included as a joke or a bonus.
  • This 4-week series looks at the hidden "Easter Eggs" or prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament, and what they mean for the Easter story today.
  • Each week connects a specific Old Testament prophecy about Jesus’ death and resurrection with a correlating New Testament passage that explains its significance.
  • By examining the importance of Biblical prophecy and its role in Christian faith, this series uncovers the great rescue plan Heaven had for humanity all along—one Easter Egg at a time.

No Plan B.

  • According to the Cambridge Dictionary:
  • Plan A…“An action or set of actions for doing or achieving something that is preferred to other methods.
  • Plan B..."An action or set of actions for doing or achieving something that can be used if the preferred method fails."
  • Jesus was God's only plan.
  • God didn’t have a Plan B, because He knew it wouldn’t be needed.
  • Before the world was ever created, God knew that Jesus would go to Heaven and one day die on the cross to pay for the sins of mankind. 1 Peter 1:20, Revelation 13:8.

Application.

  • From the very beginning, God’s plan was for Jesus to rescue humanity from sin and evil.
  • Think of how much God loves us to plan the story of our freedom in such detail, and over such a long time.
  • The God who put an incredible plan in place for Jesus to come, loves you despite your sin.
